Crestview Local School District recognized local veterans on Veterans Day with a breakfast sponsored and hosted by the Crestview High School Leo Club. A program followed in the Performing Arts Center for all veterans and their guests and all students in grades 5-12. Guest speaker was U.S. Army veteran Robert Akins, specialist 5th class. He was a member of the 864th Battalion of Engineering and served two tours in the Vietnam War for a total of 22 months. He then was a professional land surveyor for 57 years. He is also the uncle of Crestview Elementary Principal Allison Lemaster. The Crestview High School band, under the direction of Eric Bable, and choir, under the direction of Brady Amerson, performed selections to honor the veterans and each branch of the military. The second-graders, under the direction of Cassidy Minamyer, honored military members and families.
