Village to provide Leetonia resource officer again

LEETONIA — The village of Leetonia will once again be providing the school resource officer for Leetonia Schools this school year.

Leetonia Exempted Village School District’s school board approved a Memorandum of Understanding with the village for the 2025-26 school year.

Among other action taken at Wednesday’s meeting, an agreement between the district and the Columbiana County Board of Developmental Disabilities also was approved for this school year.

Board members also approved the Leetonia Ruritan Club’s request to sell 50/50 drawing tickets outside of the gym doors during the boys basketball season, and the Northern 8 football conference to hold its eight-man state championship on Nov. 8.

Michele Votaw was absent from Wednesday’s meeting.

In other action, the school board:

— Accepted a $10,000 donation from Bob Hendricks toward the stadium; $10,000 from Harry Leffler toward the Hall of Fame scholarships; $500 from the Perkins and Frenger families in memory of Meet Tortora Frenger toward the Perkins/Torotra Scholarship Faund; $500 from Williams for the band fund; $250 from St. Jacobs Logtown Church for the nurse supplemental fund; and $975 from Andrew Billett, Andy and Bobbie Billet, Scott and Debbie Boyd and James Rance Jr. toward the hall of fame fund.

— Approved the following substitutes for the 2025-26 school year: Julia Vitko, classified; Nick Mays, certificated and classified effective Oct. 14; and Olivia Dotson, certificated and classified.

— Approved the following supplemental contracts for the 2025-26 school year: Mike Hein, head boys basketball coach; Bob Vaia, head varsity wrestling coach; Ashten Houlette, assistant varsity wrestling coach; Gabriel Evans, junior high wrestling coach; Tony Ford, girls basketball assistant coach; Kelly Reynolds, girls basketball assistant coach; Carson Brock, junior high boys basketball volunteer; Alexis Ours, junior high cheer advisor; Jaren Snyder and Nathaneal DiCross, junior high boys basketball coaches; as well as Corey Creamer and Drake Golden, boys basketball assistant coaches.

— Approved the following game workers for the 2025-26 school year: Christie Watkins, Christina Caries, Starr Neel and Olivia Neel.
