St. Clair trustees approve opting into opioid settlement

ST. CLAIR –During Monday’s meeting of the St. Clair Township Board of Trustees, the trustees took the next step needed for opting into the next round of the national opioid settlement unanimously, voting on the resolution officially opt in to the settlement.

The trustees also voted all in favor on the retirement of K-9 Noras and allowing him to spend his retirement with his handler Officer Joshua Jackson and his family.

Calcutta Fire Chief Dave McCoy told the trustees that he wants to remind everyone that there is a statewide burn ban in effect for the next two months and there is no outdoor burning permitted between 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.

McCoy also noted that it’s Fire Prevention Week and his department would be going into schools, daycares, and even Walmart for fire safety education.

The Calcutta Volunteer Fire Department has free smoke detectors available for residents who need them. The program is for Calcutta residents only.

Bills totaling $73,515, a purchase order in the amount of $2,185 and three blanket certificates totaling $3,527 were approved for payment.

The St. Clair Travel and Tourism Board will meet Oct. 9 at 7 p.m. in the community room at the Township Government Building.

Township offices will be closed on Oct. 13 for Columbus Day.

St. Clair Township Trick-or-Treat will be held on Oct. 31 from 5:30-7 p.m.

The St. Clair Township Board of Trustees meet every other Monday at 4 p.m. at the Township Government Building located at 15442 Pugh Rd. in Calcutta. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Oct. 20.
