The ceremonies are scheduled to be held in the cemetery where the five patriots are buried but will be moved into the church if needed due to inclement weather.

The grave markings and memorial ceremonies are part of the MVCSAR’s 250th anniversary celebration.

MVCSAR Chapter President is encouraging anyone who believes that may be a descendent of one of the patriots and/or would like additional information on the grave marking ceremony to contact him at 330-386-4178 or barlow34@comcast.net.

“We would be pleased if you could attend the ceremony representing your family’s patriot ancestor,” Barlow said.

The grave marking and ceremony are open to the public and include brief addresses, reading of patriots’ biographies, dedication of grave markers, color guard and musket salute, color guard dressed in revolutionary period uniforms and ladies in period clothing, placement of wreaths, bagpipes, Taps and refreshments served by DAR. Bob Hill, president, Hocking Valley Chapter OHSSAR, will present a wreath on behalf of his chapter and perform the duties of the state color guard commander.

“Ohio is rich in Revolutionary War patriots who served from the alarm at Lexington and Concord 1775, to winters in Valley Forge, to the surrender at York Town and to signing of Treaty of Paris in 1783,” Barlow said.
