Long list of unopposed races on November ballot
LISBON — The Nov. 4 general election ballot will include a lot of unopposed races for city, village, township and school board seats, a long list of renewals sought for tax issues and some local liquor options.
Leading off the list of unopposed candidates will be two Republicans for Columbiana County Muncipal Court Judge, with Judge Tim McNicol seeking re-election to the Jan. 2 term and Danielle Menning of Leetonia seeking her first term on the bench. She won the Republican primary against current Judge Kelly Linger for the Jan. 1 term.
Cities and villages
The following is the list of unopposed or uncontested candidates in cities and villages, some who won primaries or were unopposed in the primary, along with nonpartisan village candidates.
Columbiana: Mayor (one to elect), Rick Noel, and Council (three to elect), Bobby Quetot, Ted Souder and Amanda Banner, all Republicans.
East Liverpool: President of Council (one to elect), John Torma, Independent; Council-at-Large (three to elect), Democrat John Mercer, Republican Thomas Clark and Independent Brian Kerr; First Ward, Independent Tom Beagle; Second Ward, Democrat Deb Danver; Third Ward, Independent Jeffrey Kreefer; and Fourth Ward, Independent Andrew Arcuragi, (all one to elect). No candidate filed for Treasurer.
Salem: President of Council, Republican Evan Newman; and Treasurer, Republican Tod Mumpire (both one to elect).
Leetonia: Council (four to elect), Democrats William Merdich, William Garlough and Leisa Lorch and write-in candidate Gary Phillips.
Lisbon: Board of Public Affairs (one to elect), Independent Cora Lewis.
Wellsville: Council (two to elect), Independent Michael Lombardozzi and write-in candidate Alana Amato.
East Palestine: Council (three to elect), Barbara Herriott, Erin Stauffer and Thomas Anthony Povenski Jr.; Council unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2027 (one to elect), John Simon Jr.
Hanoverton: Council (four to elect), Scott Cope and Zach Kennedy.
New Waterford: Council (four to elect), Trish Wilson and Chad Hess.

In Mahoning County, uncontested races in our area include: Goshen Township, Trustee (two to elect), John Bricker and Teresa Stratton; Green Township fiscal officer unexpired term ending March 31, 2028 (one to elect), Erin O’Hara; Smith Township, Trustee (two to elect), Terry Criss and Larry Barnett, and unexpired trustee term ending Dec. 31, 2027, Scott Showalter; Beloit,, Council (four to elect), Sherry Augustein and Matt Hutton, Board of Public Affairs (one to elect), Louis Hannum; Sebring, Council (four to elect) Samantha Phillips and Marvin Aberegg II, and unexpired council term expiring Dec. 31, 2027 (one to elect), Steven Smith; .Sebring school board (three to elect), JoAnn Jones, Scott Latham and Debra Ann Green and unexpired term ending Dec. 31, 2027 (one to elect), Tammy Eckert.
