Homeless Awareness Fair

The Salem First Methodist Church, 244 S. Broadway Ave., will host a Homeless Awareness Fair from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today addressing how to help neighbors in need. Individuals can speak with assistance providers about services beginning at 10 a.m., with an informational discussion at 11:30 a.m. Free lunch will be provided.

Fundraiser to benefit food bank

The Beaver Creek Area Association of REALTORS is hosting, along with many local businesses and organizations, a fundraiser to benefit the Second Harvest Food Bank on Sunday, Nov. 2 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Walnut Lanes, 420 Walnut St. in East Liverpool. Pizza, soft drinks and snacks will be served. The event is open to the public to bowl, eat, and participate in drawings for door prizes for adults and children. Admission is $20 per person, payable at the door. Last year’s event raised over $5,000 for the food bank, just in time to help meet the increased need for assistance around Thanksgiving.

Leetonia Halloween

Leetonia will host Halloween fun at the splash pad for the first time this year. From 4 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, officials are invited families down to 9 Chestnut St. for a spooktacular night. The Leetonia Harvest and Haunt event will include fall games, pumpkin carving, pumpkin painting contest, plenty of treats and refreshments. A professional photographer also is expected on hand to snag family photos. Costumes are encouraged but not required. The village’s Trick or Treat times are set for 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31. Families are invited to conclude the evening at 7:30 p.m. with a Halloween party at the Leetonia fire station, where there will be a costume contest and snacks. There is no parade this year.

SRMC cookbook

Salem Regional Medical Center’s (SRMC) Employee Engagement Committee is selling cookbooks featuring a wide collection of recipes from current and past SRMC employees. The “Recipes from the Heart of Our Team” cookbook contains nearly 200 recipes for cooks of all levels, from appetizers and beverages to main dishes to desserts. The cookbook also includes 15 pages of helpful kitchen tips and tricks. Members of the public are invited to purchase cookbooks for $10 each or three cookbooks for $25 by contacting Dawna at 330-550-2375 or Stephanie at 330-332-7204. Cash, Venmo or Cash App payments will be accepted upon pick-up.

Salem Music Study Club

The Salem Music Study Club will meet at 7 p.m. Wednesday on South Broadway Avenue in the parlor upstairs in the educational building adjacent to the Emmanuel Lutheran Church. Dues from members will be collected as well as much information to be shared about the Annual Festival of Choirs. Guests and members are welcome to attend and refreshments will be provided. Costumes can be worn if so desirable. Anna Anderson will be the chairman of the program which is entitled One Hundred Years of Music, Part III. This will conclude her series referring back to late August of a year ago. The Salem Music Study Club was organized in 1924 in Salem, Ohio, and federated with the National Federation of Music Club in 1925. The club is affiliated with the National Federation of Music Clubs (NFMC) and the Ohio Federation of Music Clubs (OFMC).
