BobKat’s Lil’ Critters

Bob and Kathy from BobKat’s Lil’ Critters will be at the Beaver Creek Wildlife Education Center with their live raccoons and opossum from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday. After the program visitors will be able to get up close to the animals and pet them, ask questions, and take pictures. Seating is limited so bring a chair. This is the last weekend for the Wildlife Center to be open in 2025. The drawing for the fishing charter raffle will be at 4 p.m. Questions can be sent to beavercreekw@aol.com.

Candidate Forum canceled

The Lisbon Village Council Candidate Forum originally scheduled for Oct. 8 has been canceled due to two candidates unable to attend. If another date is able to be scheduled, it will be announced.

Mile Branch soup sale

Mile Branch Grange, 495 Knox School Road, Alliance, will hold its monthly drive-thru soup sale Thursday, Oct. 9. Cost is $9 per quart. This month’s soups will be loaded potato and stuffed pepper. Soup must be preordered by noon on Wednesday, Oct. 8. Soup will be available for pick up from 4 to 6 p.m. Call 330-821-8023 to reserve soup. Leave name, phone number, type of soup and number of quarts.

SBMC Homecoming

Salem Bible Methodist Church, 1647 N. Ellsworth Ave., will host its Homecoming, celebrating 86 years, at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 12. The service will feature The Brian Fuller Family. For information call Pastor David Crosley at 812-675-1549.

One-act play Oct. 8

ALLIANCE – “Everything I Need to Know I Learned in The Twilight Zone,” a one-act play performed by husband and wife team of Mark Dawidziak and Sara Showman of The Largely Literary Theater Company, will be presented in the auditorium of Rodman Public Library on Wednesday, Oct. 8, 2025 at 6:30 pm. The event is sponsored by The Friends of Rodman Library. The two-person show was written by Showman and is based on the book by Dawidziak that was published in 2017. The lighthearted tribute to Rod Serling’s classic 1959-64 anthology series features 50 life lessons drawn from classic “Twilight Zone” episodes and feature a forward by Serling’s daughter, Anne Serling. This one-act play recalls memorable moments from these enduring parables, exploring how each lesson was supported by the morality tales told by Serling and his writers from this wondrous land whose boundaries are that of imagination. The performance will be followed by question-and-answer session and a book signing. Mark and Sara last appeared at Rodman three years ago presenting “Ghosts of the Civil War.” The program is free and open to the public. WLC Club

The WLC Club met on Sept. 23 at the Living Well Church with leader Mary Jarvis opening the meeting with prayer and then Jarvis holding role call.

Jarvis wore the officers ribbon. The challenge will be carried over until next week. The nono this week is cake. Donna Lee won the 50/50 drawing.

Mary Schmidt reported that the contest is going well and it will end on Oct. 14.

Barb Tranter read a short story and then Jarvis closed the meeting wishing all a good week.

Tops 1341

Tops 1341 met at the Glenmoor Presbyterian Church on Monday, Sept. 29, with Mary Gailey, leader, presiding. Marlene Reynolds was the best loser and Dorothy Garn was the runner up. They chose all soda and cake as the junk foods for the coming week.

The drawing winners were: 50/50, Darlene Naukem; food chart and weight loss, Reynolds; junk food, Lydia Kraft; jackpot, Cheryl Myers.

Losing three weeks in a row and the check contest was won by Dorothy Garn. Three times in the best losers book was Reynolds. Pat Allison and Cathy Wollam were in the attendance record. Darla Varney now holds the travel box.

Reynolds was the drawing winner. Cathy Wollam shared the article “Small Changes-Big Results” from Readers Digest. A discussion and questions followed. Reynolds led a 10-minute chair yoga with the members.

The meeting opened with pledges and closed with concerns and The Lord’s Prayer.
