CHS students up the donations for 2025
CANFIELD — The Canfield High School Teen Health and Medicine Society presented Salem Regional Medical Center with a check for $9,430 to go toward advancing breast cancer care in the community.
The club is made up of 30 committee members who helped make the Sept. 14 pickleball tournament at Greasel Park a success. Last year, the first tournament took place and the two center courts were painted pink for the event. That event brought in $8,000 for the fight against breast cancer.
“I feel it is amazing that we can improve (our donation) each year to help women in need,” said club member Hadley Moser.
Last year, Moser — a senior — was vice president of the club and Nick Folsom, then a senior, served as president. The two led the rest of the club committee members to pull off the first-time event.
Moser became president this year and sophomore Angelina Folsom stepped in as vice president.
“I look forward to hosting another successful event and building on this year’s success,” Folsom said.
Accepting the check during a recent football game was Amy Reed from Salem Regional Medical Center.
“These funds will go into our hospital cancer fund,” she said. “It will be used for women who can’t afford a mammogram and possibly for cancer treatment. It is really great what these young people are doing to help those in need.”
