CCCTC gets 5-star rating

LISBON — The Columbiana County Career and Technical Center is a top rated center for learning.

The career center was recently awarded an overall 5-star rating on the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce’s annual Report Card for the 2024-25 school year.

A five-star rating means the particular school “significantly exceeds state standards.”

CCCTC Assistant Superintendent Jordan Williams presented the results to the board this month.

“Our 5-star rating is a testament to our instructors. They are deeply passionate about sharing their skilled trade with our students and go far beyond teaching by inspiring confidence, nurturing potential, and working tirelessly to prepare students for their futures,” Williams said.

Williams introduced student Mason Broadbent to the board and said he was instrumental in helping the career center earn the five-star rating.

Broadbent is a senior in the automotive technology program.

Williams then discussed the four areas in which career and technical schools are rated.

He said the CCCTC, as a stand alone school, received 4 stars in one category and 5 stars in the remaining three categories with a 5 star overall rating.

“Their drive and determination to make a lasting difference in our students’ lives is the foundation of our success. We are fortunate to have great instructors, and they deserve the credit for this outstanding rating,” he said.

Superintendent Jeremy Corbisello said he was very proud of the staff and the role they play in the success of the report card scores.

On another matter, Corbisello provided the board with an update on the transportation project.

He said bids will be opened and a contract hopefully should be presented to the board for approval next month.

He anticipates construction will begin in December of this year and last about a year with occupancy of the renovated space by late December of 2026.

The next meeting was set for 7 p.m. Nov. 18.

Starting at $2.99/week.
