Apple Butter Days set for Saturday in East Palestine
EAST PALESTINE — The East Palestine Area Historical Society will celebrate Apple Butter Days from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the Log Cabin, 555 Bacon Avenue.
This has been the main fundraiser for the Historical Society for over 40 years and the proceeds are used to maintain the log cabin.
Apple butter will be cooked in 30-gallon copper kettles on the premises for those wanting to watch and perhaps participate in the stirring process. Apple butter will be available for $6 a pint later in the day.
This year will also feature a community yard sale and vendor show. Vendors will be set up outside beside the cabin which includes crafters, vendors, antiques, and yard sale. Spaces are $10 for a 10×10-foot space. Those interested in setting up should text Bonnie at 330-271-1979 or email jhdavis53@yahoo.com.
A Civil War encampment will also be set up on the premises. The Historical Society will also be selling 50/50 tickets. The Snack Shack will be on the premises.
The East Palestine Area Historical Society, in partnership with 1820 Candle Co., will present a limited offering of hand-poured candles inspired by the cherished tradition of apple butter making. With warm notes of apple, cinnamon, and bread, this fragrance recalls the comforts of hearth and home. Candles may be purchased for $20 during Apple Butter Days.
Those interested in volunteering to help peel apples should come to the Community Center at the East Palestine Park at 9 a.m. on Thursday.
Bring a knife, cutting board, bowl, and an apple corer.
