Wellsville to celebrate semiquincentennial

WELLSVILLE — The village is jumping on the semiquincentennial bandwagon.

During its regular meeting Tuesday, council approved a resolution, supporting the Ohio Commission for the United States efforts for the 250th nationwide celebration.

Wellsville Carnegie Public Library representatives advocated for the move — planning to include programming once approved.

This resolution gives library employees access to all marketing and promotional materials.

Cindy Mick was selected as liaison for the semiquincentennial on behalf of village council.

Mayor Bob Boley reported that the Columbiana County Land Bank notified him that five dilapidated structures within the village would be razed over the next 30 days.

In other action, members authorized Boley to contract with Dallis Dawson and Associates for an evaluation and development of a plan to upgrade the village’s sanitary and storm water sewage system.

Councilmembers Ryan Burgess and Martin Thorn were excused absent.

The next regular meeting will be held at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 16 in council chambers.

Starting at $2.99/week.
