Qualifications package received for county project
LISBON — C. Tucker Cope of Columbiana submitted the sole qualifications package for a project to renovate parts of the Columbiana County engineer’s garage complex along South Market Street in Lisbon.
The proposals from design/build firms were due at 9 a.m. Wednesday at the engineer’s office, with just the one received. Engineers will review the package and possibly have a recommendation for county commissioners to award the contract next week.
During a recent tour of the complex, county Engineer Bert Dawson said the work will include some painting, siding roof repairs and general upgrades to the buildings which house the repair shop, the paint shop and the engineering staff.
A new storage garage where all the trucks will be parked was recently completed by C. Tucker Cope to replace an old building which dated back to the Depression era. The new garage includes eight bays with doors on each side with a wide open design and a restroom. Now the plan is to update other buildings in the complex, such as the building next to the new structure where vehicle repairs are done and where there’s an office and parts storage.
Plans also call for some work on the roof on the brick building where the engineers have their offices, which is next to the repair shop, and moving the paint shop in the basement to the building the county purchased across the street on South Market Street in Lisbon. The building previously housed a machine shop and now will become the location for the engineer’s paint shop.
In other business, the commissioners gave Dawson permission to hire and enter into a contract with Team Logic IT LLC to replace the IT consultant the engineer’s office used for many years who’s retiring.
The commissioners also reappointed county Economic Development Director Tad Herold to the Eastern Ohio Development Alliance board for a two-year term.
James Nentwick of East Liverpool was appointed as a new member of the Columbiana County Airport Authority Board for three years, with the term expiring June 30, 2028. Nentwick, who is a current hangar lessee, is replacing board member David Norris, who resigned.
The next meeting of county commissioners will be 9 a.m. Sept. 24 at the downtown courthouse in Lisbon≥
