Occupancy permit granted for new Crestview Athletic Center

COLUMBIANA — An occupancy permit has been granted by the State of Ohio for the new Athletic Center for Crestview Local Schools.

District Superintendent Dan Hill said that the state granted the permit for use of the facility after completing the necessary inspections.

Final site items are being completed at this time and the district is currently in the planning stages for an open house and dedication of the new facility, he added.

The district is also planning to release more details soon about the new PreK-12 campus, which Hill said remains on project schedule.

The district is in the process of completing interior finishes, exterior signage, the gym truss system, window application, and other general items, Hill said.

The board of education was updated about both projects during the recent board meeting.

Hill also updated the board on upcoming events, which include being designated as a Purple Star District on Oct. 1.

The designation is given by the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce to schools and districts that support students and families connected to the military.

To receive the Purple Star designation, schools must meet rigorous criteria established by the Ohio Purple Star Advisory Board.

Hill also noted the district will be attending the Ed Spaces Scholarship event in Columbus Nov. 4-6. As part of that the district continues to examine the furnishings and use of the English Language Arts and academic and storage options within classrooms being designed, he explained.
