Investigation complete into shooting that killed little girl in St. Clair Twp.
LISBON (WKBN) – The investigation into an officer-involved shooting that resulted in the death of a little girl in St. Clair Township is complete.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol has concluded its investigation into the January 2025 shooting that claimed the life of 4-year-old Rosalie Martin as she was leaving a dentist’s office across the street from where the shooting happened.
Officers were called just after 2 p.m. on Jan. 22 for a welfare check on Joseph Como, who they found walking down the street. The video from Officer Dakota Wetzel’s body camera shows Wetzel approaching Como, demanding to see his hands. The video shows a gun in Como’s right hand just before Wetzel fired several shots. Como returned fire, and other officers fired back at Como. Martin was hit in the crossfire.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol has turned its findings over to Columbiana County Prosecutor Vito Abruzzino, who will hand the case over to a special prosecutor, since the county is representing St. Clair Township.
