WLC Club meeting

The WLC Club met on Sept. 16 at the Living Well Church with leader Mary Jarvis opening the meeting with prayer and then roll call.

The best loser was Jami Spring and Brenda Young wore the officers ribbon. Spring also had three weeks of weight loss. The nono is chips.

Nancy Hart won the 50/50 drawing.

Members will get measured at the first meeting in October.

The contest is going well and members are to call someone next week along with losing a quarter pound, keeping a chart, exercising for 10 minutes daily.

Barb Tranter read a funny story and then Jarvis closed the meeting wishing all a good week.

Museum of Ceramics seeks potters

The Museum of Ceramics of East Liverpool is currently seeking ceramicists/potters interested in leading short, engaging workshops (two to four hours) based on their personal style and expertise. This is a paid opportunity. Each artist will conduct one workshop during the nine-month long season. Artists interested in returning for future seasons are welcome to reapply for next year’s series. Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

On Saturday, Oct. 25, the National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, sponsored by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), will be held in communities across America, including Columbiana County, to raise awareness about the dangers of prescription drug abuse.

Locally, area residents will have an opportunity to drop off their unused, unwanted or expired medications on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., at two locations in East Liverpool and Salem, as follows:

East Liverpool City Hospital-Main Entrance, 425 W. Fifth St.

SRMC Professional Services Building (across from the Salem Regional Medical Center), 2094 E. State St.

Area residents will remain in their cars and hand off the unwanted medications to local law enforcement officers, who will be the only staff handling the medications. No requests for identification will be asked. Unwanted capsules or tablets may be kept in their original containers or removed from the original container.

This one-day medication collection effort is being sponsored by the Columbiana County Drug Task Force (330-424-0309) and local law enforcement jurisdictions, East Liverpool City Hospital (330-385-7200), and Salem Regional Medical Center (330-332-7152). These organizations are collaborating on this county-wide event to remove potentially dangerous controlled substances from people’s homes.

EP Band Night on tap

The East Palestine Band Night will take place Saturday at 6 p.m. at East Palestine High School at 360 W. Grant St. The event will feature performances from the East Palestine, Crestview, West Branch, Wellsville, Beaver Local, Lakeview, Southern Local and Lisbon high school bands. Cost of admission is $7. Concessions and basket raffles will be available.

‘Cook’s Night Off’ drive-thru dinner

Winona Methodist Church, 32114 Winona Road, will hold its next “Cook’s Night Off” drive-thru dinner from 4 to 6 p.m. or sold out Oct. 1. The meal will include roast pork, parsley potatoes, corn, bread, and pumpkin dessert for $12. Dinners can be pre-ordered anytime before noon that day by calling the church office at 330-222-1211. Pre-ordered dinners must be picked up by 6 p.m.
