Buckeye Water District approves resolutions

WELLSVILLE — The board members for the Buckeye Water District (BWD) Board of Trustees approved three resolutions during Thursday’s board meeting.

The first resolution which passed with an all-in-favor vote gave the BWD authorization to enter into an agreement to advance tuition costs to employee Angelo Lucino for a CDL (commercial driver’s license) Class B training program.

The agreement which will provide the $3,5000 tuition cost to the John D Rockerfeller IV Career Center in New Cumberland, West Virginia, for Lucino will require Lucino to be responsible for all other costs incurred for the training including transportation and will require him to attend all the training programs and complete all required assignments and obtain his Class B CDL.

Lucino will also be required to maintain employment at BWD for five years. If he terminates his employment during that period, he will be required within 30 days to pay BWD back the full cost of the training.

The approval was granted based on the BWD’s need for a CLASS B CDL driver.

The two resolutions authorizing BWD to enter into an agreement for engineering and design with Dallis Dawson and Associates for the Hibbits Mill Waterline Replacement Phase Two Project and for engineering and design for the new administration building were approved with unanimous votes with the exception of Board President David Dawson who abstained from the votes.

In his report to the board, BWD District Manager Al DeAngelis said that Dallis Dawson and Associates had discussions with Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) for the potential route of the waterline that will serve the park’s campgrounds, the Spring Hill tank has been cleaned and relined, and that the BWD was told by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR) that ODNR will need to access the area of the Hibbitts Mills vault to cap a gas well across Yellow Creek to the north of the vault.

DeAngelis also said that the BWD is waiting for comments from Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) about the septic system for the new administration building and is also waiting for comments from ODOT concerning the access drive for the new building.

A valve was replaced by Total Equipment on the high service pump line at the water plant.

The distribution crew repaired three leaks and two taps.

The Ohio State Auditor will be conducting the district’s audit for 2024.

The board members accepted and approved the district managers report, the treasurer’s report and the operations report as they were presented to them.

There were no committee reports, public comment, or bid openings.

The Buckeye Water District Board of Trustees meet the third Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. in council chambers at Wellsville Village Hall, 1200 Main St., Wellsville. The next regular meeting is scheduled for Oct. 16.
