Books and puzzle sale on tap
The First Methodist Church of Salem Widows Group, 244 S. Broadway Ave, will hold a book and puzzle sale Sept. 12-13. Hours are 9 a.m.-1 p.m. each day. The sale will be in the church basement. SCC to host benefit car show
The Salem Community Center is hosting a car show from 3-7 p.m. Saturday.
The event will benefit the children’s fitness center.
Admission is free for spectators. Car exhibitor fee is $5. There will be DJ, 50/50, raffles and trophies. The Weaver concession stand will be available. The center is located at 1098 N. Ellsworth Ave.
‘Women in White’ conferences set
The community is invited to attend the 17th annual, “Women in White” conference to be held Friday-Saturday, Oct. 3-4, at the Heights Church, 528 Grandview, East Liverpool.
The Friday session will begin at 6 p.m. The Saturday session starts at11 a.m. Topic for the weekend is “With Christ, Broken Women Blossom Into Warriors.” Speakers include Pastor Kim Gadd, House of Prayer, East Liverpool; Coria Brock, Life With Christ Ministries, Salem; and Tami Scales, Mount Calvary Chapel, Midland, PA. Tickets are $10 for one day; $20 for both days. Anyone interested in attending, call 330-789-6898 to register. Registration deadline is Saturday, Sept. 27.
East Liverpool parking restrictions
Due to work by the East Liverpool Street Department, there will be no parking along the following streets: Sept. 8 through 10 on McKinnon, Intermediate, Orchard and Maine Boulevard as well as Sept. 11 and 12 on Washington and Intermediate. Any car parked in these area will be towed, according to city safety-service director Bill Jones. American Roadway Logistics will set up road work signs and utilize flaggers as well as no parking signs through the project area as needed. All millings will be transported to 1443 Pennsylvania Ave.
Friends of the Banquet in Salem
Friends of the Banquet will sponsor the Dine in or Drive Thru Banquet in Salem from 5 p.m. until the food is gone Monday at the Salem Memorial Building. The menu will include hot dogs, mac and cheese, peas, applesauce, fresh vegetables and fruit, and cookies. Dine in will park in designated area behind the building and proceed to front door. Drive thru will line up in lot behind the building; one meal per individuals in the vehicle. No parking in the library lot. Glenview Cemetery reminder
As a reminder spring/summer arrangements should have been removed from graves at Glenview Cemetery in East Palestine by Sept. 1. Fall/winter arrangements are permitted from Sept. 5 through March 5.
