WELLSVILLE — Wellsville Village Schools Superintendent David Cappuzzello told the Wellsville Village Schools Board of Education during Monday’s board meeting that the district was ready to go for the 2025-2026 school year.
The district will have a couple of new options for their students this school year including Italian being offered as a foreign language class in addition to Spanish. The class will be taught by teacher Matt Jordan. Cappuzzello said the district intends to expand on foreign languages by possibly adding a third language next year in addition to adding sign language classes next year.
This year the district is also introducing Tiger Academy, a new online school for sixth through 12th grade students. Additional details on the academy will be provided at an informational meeting to be held in the Wellsville High School Media Center on Aug. 21 at 3 p.m.
Additional news from the jr. sr. high school includes the senior meeting being well attended with approximately 17 of the 29 members of the senior class along with staff members and parents attending.

During the new business portion of the meeting, board members approved the tentative bus schedules for the year, employment of substitute teachers, and donations from Southfield Energy in the amount of $2,000; American Legion in the amount of $500; The Living Well Church in the amount of $120 and the Wellsville Teacher’s Association in the amount of $500. All donations were applied to the Back to School Bash held Aug. 14.

For personnel, the board approved Camp Fitch chaperones, substitutes, a nurse, mentors, and a short hour employee.
They also approved and accepted the resignation of Jeanna Ingram from her position as Garfield short hour cafeteria cook effective Aug. 22.
Due to an oversight, the resignation of former Jr. Sr. High School Band Instructor Matt Ohlin was not placed on the agenda at the time of his resignation so the board to have as a matter of record approved his resignation during the Aug. 18 board meeting.
Board members were all in agreement that the Back to School Bash went well and was a success and that the newsletter mailed to the district’s families and made available on the district’s website is a good thing to see.
