Ward announces candidacy for Columbiana BOE

Editor’s note: Following is a release from Jake Ward announcing his candidacy for Columbiana school board:

COLUMBIANA — Jake Ward has announced his candidacy for the Columbiana Exempted Village School District Board of Education. A familiar face in the community, Ward says his decision to run is rooted in a desire to ensure students and families have a stronger voice in the decisions that shape both their education and community.

“As both a parent and a local barber, I see every day how important a strong, supportive school system is for our kids,” said Ward. “I want to be part of the conversation that makes sure every student at Columbiana High School — and across the district — has the tools they need to succeed.”

Ward, who operates a local barbershop, has long been engaged in community life. He says his experience working closely with people from all walks of life has given him a deep understanding of the values and concerns that matter most to Columbiana families.

If elected, Ward says he will focus on improving communication between the school board and the community, supporting teachers, and making sure students’ mental health and well-being are top priorities.

“I’m not a politician — I’m a parent, a small business owner, and someone who truly cares about this town,” Ward added. “I want to bring common sense, transparency, and a practical approach to the school board.”

The election for school board will take place this November. Ward plans to continue meeting with parents, teachers, and students in the coming weeks to listen to their concerns and share his vision for the future of Columbiana schools.

More information about Ward’s campaign will be shared as the election draws closer.
