Trial remains set for domestic violence case

LISBON — A jury trial for domestic violence remains set for 8:30 a.m. Aug. 13 against former Liverpool Township police chief Jayson Jackson, with the case still unresolved.

A status conference had been scheduled Tuesday in Columbiana County Municipal Court before Judge Kelly Linger, but county Assistant Prosecutor Isabella Simon said there was no resolution and the case was going to trial. Jackson is represented by defense attorney Chris Amato.

Jackson, 52, who resides in Liverpool Township, remains out of jail under a $20,000 cash or surety bond for the first-degree misdemeanor charge.

According to a Liverpool Township Police report, Liverpool Township police officers were called at 1:14 a.m. Dec. 4, 2024 to Jackson’s residence for adults fighting. A woman allegedly said Jackson choked her and gave her a bloody nose.

Officers then made contact with Jackson, who said nothing was going on and they had both been drinking.

Jackson served as a police officer and then chief for many years before leaving law enforcement sometime between late December 2021 and early January 2022.

Starting at $2.99/week.
