The Counseling Center Employment Department to host an Opportunity Expo Sept. 23
ROGERS — The Counseling Center Employment Department is hosting an Opportunity Expo (similar to a job fair) on Tuesday, Sept. 23 from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. at The Rogers Flea Market and Auction grounds, located at 45625 state Route 154. This event will connect local job seekers with a wide range of Employers, Training Opportunities, Apprenticeships with Trade Unions, and Resources to help individuals overcome roadblocks on their career paths.
The Opportunity Expo will feature over 30 Columbiana County businesses coming together to ensure job seekers are aware of all the “opportunities” available in our community. Expo attendees will have the opportunity to get help preparing and printing their resume, practice interview skills, and obtain appropriate job-seeking clothing, if needed (while supplies last) before heading into exploring the various Employer tables – many with hands-on interactions. The Employment Department has commitments that span all industries, including Healthcare, Production, Banking, Childcare, Construction, Animal Care, and Event Planning, among others.
Employment Services Coordinator, Betty Young, explained, “This expo will provide a valuable opportunity to network with professionals, learn about available supports when starting a job, connect with training opportunities and explore a career path right in our county.”
Job Seekers are encouraged to dress professionally, bring multiple copies of their resume, and be prepared to discuss their skills and experiences.
In addition to the traditional job fair set-up, Young also wanted to ensure everyone had the opportunity to attend. The Employment Department has secured limited local shuttle service to bring individuals from Salem, East Liverpool and Lisbon. If someone needs transportation to attend, call 330-424-9573 ext. 258 for details and to reserve a spot. A children’s fun area, including bounce houses, slides, and face painting, will be available for children who are attending with their parents. Concessions will also be available for sale.
The goal of the Employment Program at The Counseling Center has always been to provide Employment Services to clientele aged 16 and older who have a documented barrier to work that impedes or hinders successful employment. Services are offered on an individualized basis to assist in identifying, obtaining and maintaining employment based on informed choice and personal abilities utilizing the core principle practices of the Evidence-Based Practice Supported Employment Model. This event was made possible utilizing grant funding from the Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services.
