SRMC welcomes new physicians
Katarina Barlow, M.D.
SALEM – Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) is welcoming Family Medicine physician Katarina Barlow, M.D., to its medical staff. She will join Vidya Counto, M.D.; Michael J. Buchenic IV, D.O.; and Zachary D. Vallandingham, D.O., at the SRMC Primary Care-Columbiana office at Firestone Farms.
Barlow specializes in providing primary care for patients of all ages, including annual physical exams, preventative and wellness care, health education, sick visits for acute illnesses, chronic disease management, immunizations, joint injections, laceration repair and skin biopsies.
“As a Family Medicine physician, I enjoy building long-lasting relationships with my patients and caring for them throughout all stages of life,” Barlow said. “I’m excited for the opportunity to work together with my patients to help them achieve their best health.”
After earning her Medical Degree from the University of Osijek Faculty of Medicine, Barlow completed her Family Medicine Residency at East Liverpool City Hospital.

James E. Friedl III, D.O.
SALEM – Salem Regional Medical Center (SRMC) is welcoming Family Medicine physician James E. Friedl III, D.O., to its medical staff. Dr Friedl joins Family Medicine physician Stephanie Raynish, M.D., at SRMC Primary Care-Salem.
Friedl offers a hands-on and holistic approach to health care for patients of all ages, including preventative and wellness care; annual physical exams; sick visits for acute illnesses; chronic disease management; and health education. He also performs low back pain adjustments and osteopathic manipulative medicine to restore the body’s natural healing process. In addition, Friedl offers joint injections for musculoskeletal pain.
“As a physician, I feel it’s important to listen to my patients to understand their concerns and provide care that is tailored to their unique needs,” Friedl said. “I look forward to helping my patients reach their health and wellness goals, especially through disease prevention and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.”
Friedl earned his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Hillsdale College and his Medical Degree from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. He went on to complete his Family Medicine Residency at UPMC Horizon.
His professional memberships include the American Osteopathic Board of Family Physicians and the American Academy of Family Physicians.
