Local restaurants to take part in RMHC ‘Digital Day’

On Friday, McDonald’s restaurants across Ohio, including restaurants in Columbiana County, will rally behind families facing medical challenges by hosting RMHC Digital Day — a one-day fundraising effort to benefit their local Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC).

On this day, 20% of all digital sales made through the McDonald’s app will be donated directly to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Ohio. Each participating restaurant has also committed to a minimum donation of $250, ensuring every location contributes to this important cause.

RMHC creates, finds and supports programs that enhance the health and well-being of children and families, particularly when extended hospital stays or out-of-town treatments are required. By offering housing, meals, and support, RMHC helps ease the financial and emotional burden for families with seriously ill children.

Ronald McDonald House programs in Akron and Cleveland Children’s Hospitals offer a welcoming, no-cost place to stay for families with a child receiving medical care. RMHC provides private rooms, daily meals, and supportive spaces where families can focus on what matters most — their child’s health.

The cost to provide a room and meals for a family is more than $150 per night. RMHC relies on donations to cover these costs so it can offer services free of charge to families.

According to Ronald McDonald House Charities of Northeast Ohio, 178 families that were guests at Ronald McDonald Houses in 2023 were from Mahoning, Trumbull or Columbiana County.
