PreventT2 Lifestyle Change

The Ohio State University Extension – Mahoning County is offering the PreventT2 Lifestyle Change Program, a proven, year-long educational series designed to help participants prevent or delay type 2 diabetes and take control of their health.

PreventT2 is part of the National Diabetes Prevention Program, led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Through group sessions led by a trained lifestyle coach, participants will learn practical skills to make lasting changes such as eating healthier, increasing physical activity, managing stress, and staying motivated.

The program meets weekly for the first six months, then once or twice a month for the second six months to reinforce healthy habits. The Fall 2025 PreventT2 class begins Tuesday, Sept. 2, and runs weekly through the end of the year (excluding holidays). Classes meet Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at OSU Extension Office, 490 S. Broad St., Canfield.

Topics include healthy eating and portion control, adding physical activity to daily life, staying on track when eating out, identifying and responding to food cues and overcoming obstacles to lifestyle changes.

“Being part of a supportive group can make all the difference,” said LuAnn Duncan, Family and Consumer Sciences Educator at OSU Extension – Mahoning County. “Participants not only gain tools for better health but also share the journey with others who are working toward the same goal.”

The PreventT2 program is open to adults at risk for prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. A simple blood test from your healthcare provider can help determine your risk.

Pre-registration is required. Class size is limited. For information, eligibility requirements, or to register, contact OSU Extension – Mahoning County at 330-533-5538 or visit go.osu.edu/mahoningpreventt2.

Starting at $2.99/week.
