Businessman running for trustee seat

Editor’s note:

Following is a release from Russ Sinsley announcing his candidacy for Perry Township Trustee:

After a great deal of thought and family consultation, I have decided to submit my name to the County Elections Board as a candidate for Perry Township Trustee.

I have circulated petitions for this position and will be filing them well before the August 6th deadline.

I have decided to run for this office because I care about the kind of community that my family and I want to reside in. We need to do more for the citizens of the township, changes need to be made.

Rather than use money on lawsuits against the city of Salem, which Perry Township is a part of, we must find ways in which the township can work with the city to achieve common goals that would benefit us all. That’s just common sense to me.

I currently live in the township with my wife and my daughter who is headed to college this fall. As a family-focused man, I help my brother with our family towing business my father began more than 25 ago. We are an “on call, 24 hour-a-day” type of business.

It is the kind of business that has put me in touch with folks from all around the Salem and Perry Township community, giving me the opportunity to interact with the public daily. Through these interactions I have gained insight into the serious concerns that the area’s residents and first responders have.

Given my business knowledge and frequent contact with the public, I know I am well-suited for the role of an effective trustee.

If elected as trustee, my pledge to the voters will not be anything complicated. My pledge will be that I will listen and work for them. My job will be to make Perry Township stronger, more economically viable, and a place where both our kids and community have a safer, brighter future.

This cannot happen without better cooperation and understanding between the township and the city. I wish to let these two entities co-exist to the benefit of both and for the people who reside here.

With this pledge, watch what progress can be made for all of the citizens of Perry Township and the larger Salem community.

Starting at $2.99/week.
