Beaver Local BOE approves three-year contract with BLEA
LISBON — A new contract was awarded to the Beaver Local Education Association as the district prepares for the new school year.
The new three-year contract approved by the Board of Education in July for the BLEA is effective Sept. 1, 2025 through Aug. 31, 2028.
“We appreciate the collaborative conversations held during negotiations,” District Superintendent Eric Lowe said.
He added that the discussions allowed for raises across the contract for staff and for the district to make some adjustments with how the insurance coverage functions.
In other business, the board also approved several personnel matters, including the resignations of Abby Murray, intervention specialist; Hannah Pasco, color guard instructor; Jenny Hanson, speech language pathologist; and Stacy McNally, intervention specialist.
Dr. William Young was also hired as middle and elementary school principal and Peter Sapkowski was approved for K-12 music teacher.
The board also approved membership in the Coalition of Rural and Appalachian Schools for the 2025-26 school year at a cost of $400; a contract renewal with Johnson Controls for the 2025-26 school year at a cost of $29,700; and a contract with Liberty Mutual Insurance for the 2025-26 school year at a cost of $144,481.
District lunch prices were set at $3.10 for the high school and $2.95 for the elementary school.
