Pat Tingle, local philanthropist, has driven the creation of this special event, “as a day to honor both Idabelle and our local artists,” she said. “We are proud to launch an art series of events at this special location in the park honoring Idabelle. The creation of the magnificent Gathering Place is a perfect setting for the arts in any form. We hope that musical events and art shows are just the start of the many wonderful uses for this lovely spot in historical Firestone Park, designed especially to preserve the golden days of the talented musician, Idabelle Firestone, who truly had art in her heart.”
The event is being sponsored by the Firestone Park Cultural and Custodial Committee, a new 501c3. In addition to founder Tingle, committee members include Shari Fry, committee chair; Mark Hamilton, owner of Source Gallery in Lisbon; Rose Conrad, public relations representative; and Elizabeth Ford, local artist from Poland. Admission is free to the public.
“Come and stroll the paths of Idabelle Firestone’s Gathering Place and Garden to enjoy the late beauty of summer,” Tingle said, “and appreciate the works of the many talented artists who surround us. And we invite the local and area communities to join us.”
