Bustling would be the right word to describe downtown Salem Saturday as dozens of folks attended the annual Freed Fest featuring vendors, crafts and activities for children. The Salem High School Alumni Association also held the SHS Alumni Weekend with numerous class reunions and other related activities held. The Freed Fest celebrates the achievements of music legend Alan Freed, a 1940 SHS alumnus who coined the phrase, “Rock and Roll” and is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland.
