ServSafe® Food Protection Manager Certification
YOUNGSTOWN — The Ohio State University Extension in Mahoning County is now offering the nationally recognized ServSafe® Food Protection Manager Certification Program for 2025. This essential training equips food service professionals with accurate, up-to-date information on safe food handling — from receiving and storage to preparation and service.
This course meets the Ohio Department of Health’s Level II Certification in Food Protection requirements, as outlined in Ohio Revised Code 3701-21-25. Upon successful completion of the course and exam, participants will receive a ServSafe® Certificate of Completion and Certification in Food Protection from the Ohio Department of Health.
This certification is designed for food service managers and handlers at restaurants, convenience stores, grocery stores and school food service programs; and members of civic groups who prepare and serve food for sale or public consumption
Participants may choose from two learning formats: In-Person (Two-Day Course & Exam): Includes classroom instruction and the certification exam on the second day; Online: Participants may complete coursework remotely and schedule an in-person proctored exam, register at go.osu.edu/servsafe2025.
The 2025 In-Person Class Schedule is as follows:
Aug. 11: 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Aug. 18 (9 a.m. class, 1 p.m. exam)
Sept. 15: Exam only (1 to 4 p.m.)
Oct. 13: (8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) and Oct. 20 (8:30 a.m. class, 1 p.m. exam)
Nov. 10: Exam only (9 a.m. to noon)
Cost is $200 (cash or check only) and includes instruction, materials and exam. Lunch is on the participant’s own.
