Leetonia school board OKs putting emergency levy renewal on ballot
LEETONIA — Village school board members voted unanimously Wednesday to put a renewal of the district’s emergency levy on the ballot.
During a hour-long regular meeting, Leetonia school treasurer Jennifer Coldsnow explained that the levy raises a fixed $350,000. It was initially approved over 30 years ago for 8.8 mills. But Coldsnow explained that due to increasing property values it now only 3.17 mills.
Supplemental contracts for the upcoming school year were granted to assistant football coaches Maxwell Peppel, Roman Ferry, Cade Campolito and Arthur Altomare; freshman football coach Fred Bruderly; junior high football coaches Jeffrey West and Michael Huston; head weight room coach Matt Altomare; assistant weight room coach Jacob Forrest; head volleyball coach Elyssa Null; assistant volleyball coach Cindy Wukotich; junior high volleyball coaches Kristin Jackson and Kaitlyn Buffone; volunteer high school cheer adviser Alexis Ours, junior high cheer adviser Christie Felger; mentor teacher Randall Rodik; and head girls basketball coach Steve Reynolds.
At the conclusion of the meeting, administrators and the board entered executive session to discuss personnel as well as to discuss the upcoming union negotiations with no action taken.
Board members also:
— Approved salary increases for non-union staff of 4.5 percent for Ryan Clapsaddle, Leisa Lorch and Kelly Rulli.
— Hired Rick Davis to a two-year limited contract for the upcoming school year.
–Accepted the resignation of Sean Gaffney, effective Aug. 1.; approved liability coverage for booster groups by Liberty Mutual at no cost to the district for 2025-26.
— Approved an agreement between the district and the Columbiana County Educational Service Center for Project Inspire and IDEA Part B Special Ed Consortium.
— Contracted with Capital Improvement Planning between the district and K-12 Business Consulting.
— Approved a sports medicine contract with Leetonia EMS to provide staffing at winter sports event for the upcoming school year with two ambulances for varsity games and Friday nights at a cost of $150 and one ambulance for junior varsity and junior high games at a cost of $125.
— Confirmed the first breakfast or lunch is free for all students during the upcoming school year. Students choosing to purchase a second meal will pay $2.75.
— Approved an agreement with Ripcho Photography to handle all grade-level class pictures and extracurricular photos for the upcoming school year.
— Contracted with ACCESS to provide network electronics, managed support and maintenance for Fiscal Year 2026.
