Water, sewer line work
State Route 154 between Scroggs and Elkton roads in Elkton will have traffic maintained for approximately four months beginning today for water and sewer line installation in the state Route 154 right of way. Portable traffic signals will be used when lane closures are required. Marucci & Gaffney of Youngstown is the contractor for the nearly $2.3 million project funded by the American Rescue Plan (ARP) Act.
Salem Women’s Federation
The Salem Women’s Federation will have a tea at 11 a.m. July 19 at the Smucker House, 271 S. Broadway Ave. Eddie Murphy from Wellsville will portray Sojourner Truth. Truth’s famous speech was “Ain’t I a Woman” delivered in 1851 at the Women’s Right Convention in Akron. She was born into slavery, in 1797, and became one of the most powerful advocates for human rights in the nineteenth century. Make reservations by messaging the Salem Federation of Women’s clubs on Facebook, or by calling 330-207-6031. Tickets are $25. Reservation must be prepaid. Tickets can also be purchased from any Salem Federation board member.
CPR training in Lisbon
New Lisbon Presbyterian Church is holding training sessions for CPR, First Aid and AED training this month. Two times are offered on July 22, 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. A class will also be offered noon to 3:30 p.m. on July 24. The American Heart Association requires a full three-and-a-half hour training class for certification. Participants will receive certification in CPR, First Aid and AED. The cost of the class id $30 and checks are to be made payable to NLPC. To register for a session, call the church at 330-424-5107.
ELCH community festival
East Liverpool City Hospital will be hosting a free community festival on July 26 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The event includes free giveaways, bounce houses, essential health screenings, and local resources that support health, wellness, education and community well-being. A Golf Ball Drop raffle of a cash prize of $1,000 will also be held. To purchase tickets for golf ball drop, call 330-386-2097.
VFW Post 4111 to hold fundraiser
The Lisbon VFW Post 4111 will host a cornhole tournament/breakfast on July 26 to help send its 9-ball team to a tournament in Las Vegas. Pulled pork and chicken dinners will also be sold and a chinese auction held. Breakfast ($10) will be served 9 a.m. to noon with the tournament ($40 per team) set noon to 1 p.m. Dinners ($12) will be available from 4 to 8 p.m. To donate an item to the chinese auction or register for the Cornhole tournament contact Jenny Shive Bagley via Facebook. Items can also be dropped off at the VFW located at 210 E. Lincoln Way.
