Motion for more specific discovery denied in murder case

LISBON — A motion for more specific discovery was denied for a Newell man awaiting trial for a 2021 murder.

Elvin EJ Tisdale, who is charged with aggravated murder in the shooting death of 20-year-old Brycen Douglas, had filed the motion requesting all investigative notes for all law enforcement in the case due to there being no body cam footage. The court denied the motion, stating the investigative notes are not subject to discovery.

Tisdale had also requested the DNA findings for Allen Tisdale, who pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter and complicity for a weapons charge, and Travis Kidder, who is awaiting trial for obstructing official business for allegedly lying to investigators during the investigation. That request was also denied due to a lack of DNA collection.

Elvin Tisdale’s trial is set to begin today.

Starting at $2.99/week.
