LISBON — Sometimes the best way is the most simple way. That’s the idea behind the newly-completed Community Bulletin Board which was placed in Lisbon’s downtown Fountain Square.
“Over a year in the works and it’s finally here, our Community Bulletin Board,” The Lisbon Area Chamber of Commerce (LACC) announced recently on its Facebook page. “Not everyone uses social media or the internet. Not everyone reads the newspaper daily. The Community Bulletin Board will provide another avenue by which to promote local activities.”
Last July, county commissioners gave permission for the chamber to erect a community bulletin board, 6 feet by 7 feet. Last month, LACC Executive Director Judy Noel told Lisbon council the project was recently completed by students at the Columbiana County Career and Tech Center. The Community Bulletin Board Kiosk will display community maps, messages, posters, signage, fliers and announcements regarding the village. Absolutely no political nor business advertising will be permitted. No public funds were used for its construction. The chamber will update and control the contents of the kiosk.
The Community Bulletin Board was constructed by the Columbiana County Career Center and Technical Center’s Construction technology students under Chris Schreffler.
The idea for the Community Bulletin Board came from Dolores and Albert Ash and, according to the chamber, “after months of planning, zoning, meetings and construction, that idea is now a reality.”
The chamber thanked Al and Lori Ash for “planting the seed, the Village of Lisbon and the Columbiana County Commissioners for approving the necessary permits, ordinances, etc. and Mr. Chris Shreffler’s CCCTC Construction Technology class for construction of the kiosk, Landsberger Construction, D.W. Dickey & Son, Inc., Nicole Dickey and Todd Ramsey.”
“This project would not have been possible without you,” the LACC said. “Thank you so much for all your efforts, advice, support and hard work.”
A post with instructions for adding announcements to the Commiunity Bulletin Board will be added to the LACC’s Facebook soon.
