Third season of the free Idabelle Firestone Concert Series announced
COLUMBIANA — Coming soon, the Firestone Park Cultural and Custodial Committee (FPCCC), a new 501ç3 non-profit organization, will be hosting its third season of free fall concerts at the Idabelle Firestone Gathering Place and Garden in Harvey S. Firestone Recreational Park.
The full schedule of the Idabelle Firestone Fall Concert Series will kick off on Sunday, Aug. 31, 3 p.m., at the Gathering Place in the park, with a performance of local talent, including the Oak Street String Band, the Keller Family Singers and Sassa Brass.
“It’s something new this year.” said Brenda Bradley, artistic director of the series. “While it’s our aim to bring in professional performers who present classical crossover concerts, we do like to give our very talented local musicians a chance to perform for the community on our stage as well.”
Student scholars will also perform again this year.
The free concerts will continue every Sunday in September at 3 p.m. at the beautiful hilltop outdoor amphitheater that was added during the extensive efforts to restore the park to its former glory over the past several years by both the FPCCC and the Restoration and Beautification Committee of Columbiana, also an active 501(c)3 charitable organization.
The Firestone Symphony Orchestra will perform on Sept. 7; the Keystone State Gospel Quartet on Sept. 14; and the Ballet Western Reserve on Sept. 21.
“It’s an eclectic group of talented musicians,” said Bradley, “and the concert board Is thrilled to get them on our schedule for this season,” she added.
Due to popular demand, The Texas Tenors, the #1 touring vocal group from the popular NBC television program “America’s Got Talent,” will return for two shows this season instead of one to accommodate the huge interest in the group. The three-time Emmy Award winners for their hit PBS special will perform at 3 and 7 p.m. on Sept. 28 at the Columbiana High School instead of the park because of the crowds that are expected to attend.
“We were very lucky to be able to bring this national act to the city of Columbiana for a second time and we negotiated with their booking agent to get the best possible performance fee,” Bradley said, “but we will still need donations from the public to help put this amazing concert on,” she added.
Covered lawn seating is provided and guests may also bring their own lawn chairs or blankets. When entering the main entrance of the park at 338 E. Park Ave., parking is free at the lot across from the pool house. Golf cart drivers will be available to transport visitors up to the hillside location. Whether sunny or rainy, the series will be performed and rain venues and further information on the concerts can be found at 2025 Idabelle Firestone Concert Series on Facebook.
Flyers and posters will also soon appear throughout the community to remind music lovers to attend.
“By producing these free, top-quality, classical crossover concerts for the Columbiana Community, we strengthen and enrich our vibrant and growing city with unique music experiences,” Bradley said.
