CALCUTTA — Alexis McGown was chosen as the January Student of the Month by the Calcutta Rotary. She is the daughter of Alicia and Mike McGown and is a senior at Beaver Local High School.

She has accumulated over 400 community service hours. She is active in many service organizations including Bible Club where she has served the past seven years. She has been a four-year member of the Leo Club and a member of Scout Troop 2012. She was chosen last year as a delegate for Buckeye Girls State.

Alexis said that community service is important to her because she believes in helping others and being a part of coming together to support each other.

Alexis plans to attend Geneva College in the fall to pursue a degree in nursing.
