Maintenance scheduled to keep Beaver Local in terrific condition
LISBON — It has been 10 years since the Beaver Local School District moved into the K-12 building and the district is doing what it can to make sure the building remains in good shape in the coming years.
District Superintendent Eric Lowe told the board of education at the most recent meeting that several preventive maintenance items are scheduled for the future to ensure that the building and grounds are in terrific condition.
“This will be the completion of the tenth school year here at the new school,” he noted.
Prior to the construction of the new campus on Bell School Road students attended classes in five separate buildings.
The district is also looking forward to the opening of its new athletic facility this year.
The Derek Wolfe Fieldhouse is located next to the football stadium.
In other matters during the meeting, the board approved several personnel items, including a supplemental contract for Tanner Johnston for track, and continuing contracts for Julie Agnew, Jonathan McCullough, Nick Sesonsky and Maribeth Zurcher.
The board also approved several people as volunteers, and Kathryn Davis, Janice Palmer, Alvin Palmer, Paula Roberts, and Lauren Christian as substitutes.
Resignations were also approved for Anthony Meyer, elementary health and wellness teacher; Matthew Kidd, middle school teacher; and Amy Hulse, bus driver.
Certified limited one-year contract renewals for the 2025-26 school year were approved for Danielle Aeschbacher, Kathy Boggs, Chandler Carr, Courtney Dalrymple, Christina Douglas, Melissa Hall, Jessica Kuhar, and Ryan Smith.
Certified limited three-year contract renewals were approved for Kerry Bettross, Jodi Bock, Tina Bollinger, Hannah Cochran, Lisa Congo, Christina Cusick, Amanda Davidson, Mark Emmerling, Sara Kauffman, Kenneth Kuzior, Heather Moser, Abby Murray, and Kailin Reiner.
Classified limited one-year contracts were also approved for Kristin Mathias and Cory Williamson.
A certified limited three-year contract was also approved for Alyssa Osborne.
The board also approved the retirement of Dr. William Young, effective May 31.
Other items approved were the five-year financial forecast, the purchase of a new 2025 CE school bus through the state purchasing program at a cost of $131,378, the waiver days and 2-hour delay schedule, and a policy amendment to Board policy 2111 to ensure that engagement is appropriate for all families with regards to attention paid for parents who are economically disadvantaged, disabled, or have limited English proficiency.
The board also approved amending Bylaw 0131 to allow for any policy adoption, amendment or suspension under emergency circumstances to be for an indefinite period of time without automatic expiration unless otherwise stated by the board.
