Midland Fredericktown Road to open Monday
ST. CLAIR TOWNSHIP — Midland Fredericktown Road in St. Clair Township will open at 9 a.m. Monday. The road, which was impacted by excessive and intense rains throughout the spring and summer of 2023, has been closed to address the slip that was occurring. The roadway connects the surrounding Calcutta area with western Pennsylvania.
The township trustees and fiscal officer worked in conjunction with the Columbiana County Engineer’s Office and were awarded a $775,667 emergency grant by Linda Bailiff, director of the Ohio Public Works Commission to repair the slip. The project also required working with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources since Beaver Creek is at the base of the slip, and the cooperation of Beaverkettle Farr Farms since additional land was required to move the roadway.
The Columbiana County commissioners assisted in the project by awarding the township $50,000 toward the township’s 10% of the project.
The project was designed by the county engineer’s office staff and constructed by Mike Pusateri Excavating Inc.
