LISBON — The Lisbon Chamber Area of Commerce (LACC) is marking Mother’s Day with a “Sip and Succulents” event. The do-it-yourself terrarium workshop will give attendees a chance to create a terrarium — a glass container containing soil and plants – on May 1 and 8 at 6 p.m. at the LACC office, located at 120 N. Market St.

“This is great for ages 8 to 80,” the LACC said. “Everything is provided to create and take home a finished terrarium.”

Succulents will be provided to create the terrarium. Succulent plants have thickened stems, or leaves, such as aloe and cacti.

Along with succulents, air plants, which don’t require soil and grow on other plants, rocks, or structures, will also be available. Additional items for decoration will also be supplied.

The LACC bills the workshop as “educational, fun and hands-on.” All skill levels are welcomed. No green thumb is required. “No experience is needed. Just bring your creativity,” the chamber said.

Water and snacks will be provided.

As for the “sip” part of the event, alcohol will not be provided, it will be allowed. Attendees are permitted to bring alcoholic beverages of their own.

The cost of the event is $25 per person or $45 for two.
