‘Historic Pioneer Cemetery’ to be presented tonight at Shaffer Library

Tonight’s program of the Salem Historical Society & Museum will be presented at the Shaffer Library, 239 S. Lundy Ave. at 7 p.m. Nonmembers of the society are welcome to attend. Following a short business meeting, the program, “Historic Pioneer Cemetery,” will be presented by Kate Pfouts, Trumbull County Historical Society archivist.

Pioneer Cemetery located in Warren was one of the first public burial grounds in the area. This cemetery is the final resting place of early pioneers who settled the Connecticut Western Reserve. Discover its rich history and learn about the efforts that Trumbull County Historical Society (TCHS) is doing to preserve this important landmark for future generations.

Pfouts has been with TCHS for nearly two years, primarily working in collections and research. Originally from Salem, she earned her B.A. in Anthropology with an Archaeology concentration from Youngstown State University and holds certificates in Collections Care and Management from the Center for Collections Care at Beloit College. She is also an active member of the Brigade of the American Revolution and the recipient of the Brigade’s 2024 Founders Fellowship Research grant.
