Investigation ongoing in Perry Township death
PERRY TOWNSHIP — Investigations into a death in Perry Township Sunday night remain ongoing.
According to an incident report posted to the police department’s Facebook page, officers were dispatched to 616 Stewart Road at 5:54 p.m. Sunday for a reported medical emergency. EMT also responded to the scene and administered CPR to Macy Goodman, 28, Salem, and transported her to the Salem Regional Medical Center where she was later pronounced deceased.
All parties present at the scene were identified and one man, Danny Shultz Jr., 27, Salem, fled the scene. He was later apprehended and arrested for an outstanding felony warrant out of Columbiana County unrelated to the incident after a foot pursuit and charged with obstruction of official business for fleeing the scene.
“We got called there for a medical, a potential overdose, and other than that we’re waiting on the toxicology results and the coroner. We have to wait for their findings to know more,” said Police Chief Richard Kimble.
Kimble said that at this time the official cause of death remains undetermined and is pending test results and a requested autopsy from the Columbiana County Coroner’s Office.
“Until we determine what it is after our investigation, all I can say is we got called to a medical situation with a potential overdose and the Columbiana County Coroner’s Office is investigating on their side and we have to wait for their results,” said Kimble.
Kimble also stressed that despite assumptions being made on social media, the arrest of Shultz had nothing to do with the death, and he has not been charged with anything pertaining to the death at this time.
“I think everyone’s presuming that, but his arrest wasn’t relevant; he had an outstanding felony warrant and that’s why he was arrested,” said Kimble.
