COLUMBIANA — City council packed a lot of action into 19 minutes Tuesday night, choosing a new Planning Commission member and having its first meeting with a brand new council member.
Columbiana Mayor Richard Noel cast the deciding vote for Dylan Fletcher, the city’s new Planning Commission member when individual council members split a decision among applicants for the open seat: Fletcher, Steven DuBois and Rob Hall.
Fletcher, a former student representative for city council, is expected to be in attendance Tuesday when Planning Commission meets.
All council members were present for Tuesday’s regular meeting, which included the swearing-in of new council member Robert Quetot; second readings on wage ordinances for city employees as well as a contract with Holland, Rolland and Grubik for design services on the Firestone Park project. Quetot abstained on the HRG legislation as he is employed there.
Council also unanimously approved the first readings of a lateral hire ordinance for the police department as well as legislation allowing a city employed certified instructor with the Firestone pool to provide CPR, first aid and AED training to the general public.
The next regular council meeting will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18 in city council chambers at the municipal building.
