Salineville man killed in crash

WASHINGTON TOWNSHIP — Troopers from the Lisbon Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol are investigating a one-vehicle fatal crash.

The crashed occurred at 7:10 p.m. Friday on state Route 39 at the intersection of state Route 164 in Washington Township.

A white 2013 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling northeast on SR 39 when it traveled left of center striking a traffic sign, crossing onto SR 164 and traveling off the left side of the roadway, striking an embankment and a tree.

The driver, 28-year-old Dalton Cunningham of Salineville, was prononced dead at the scene by the Columbiana County Coroner. He was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be a factor at this time. The crash remains under investigation.

Departments assisting with the scene included the Salineville and Highlandtown fire departments and Lifeteam EMS.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminds all drivers of the importance of seatbelts.
