Joy of Christmas Light Show featured on 2024 Ohio Holiday Lights Trail

COLUMBIANA -- The Columbiana Area Tourism Bureau's annual Joy of Christmas Light Show finds itself featured on TourismOhio's 2024 Ohio Holiday Lights Trail.

"If you are looking to experience the magic of the season with the best light displays in the state, the Holiday Lights Trail is a great place to start," explained Gov. Mike DeWine.

This is the 16th year, the Tourism Board has hosted the holiday lights throughout Harvey S. Firestone Recreational Park in Columbiana.

The light show is open 6-9 p.m. on select nights through Dec. 28.

The cost is $20 per vehicle or $40 per seasonal pass with moneys going to the Harvey S. Firestone Recreational Park maintenance and select activities and events within the city.

This past weekend, a highlight of the lights was the gingerbread displays housed in the Spruce Tunnel Pavilion (aka the Gingerbread House).

Bakeries like Das Dutch Haus, Kim's Confections and Willows by Wehr submitted houses as well as area youth. Residents and staff from the Whispering Pines Village also teamed up for a submission.

With a Candy Land-theme, all projects had to take the shape of homes, scene or storefront and include the name or business of the entrant.

Throughout the remainder of the remaining month, Mrs. Claus, who was honored Friday as the Columbiana Christmas parade marshal, is charged with leading activities and crafts on Thursday Sundays and special nights as well as conducting storytime.

Both Santa Claus' Ice Castle (at Mirror Lake) with Mrs and the Gingerbread House close Christmas Eve; however, the outside light show still can be enjoyed.

First responders, veterans and seniors receive special admission rates on Sundays.

Two special walk-in nights (no motor vehicles) are being held Saturday, Nov. 30 and Friday, Dec. 27 with reduced admission rates of $5 per person.

The JOC is hosting a night of viewing for special needs by appointment only on Wednesday, Dec. 4.
