EAST PALESTINE -- Sherrill Ann Wisser Jones, 85, of East Palestine, passed away peacefully on Monday, Sept. 23, 2024, at Christian House Assisted Living, East Palestine.
She was born on Nov. 20, 1938, in McKeesport, Pa., daughter of the late Frank and Inez Derr Wisser.
Sherrill was a member the First United Presbyterian Church of East Palestine, where she taught Sunday school, assisted with numerous committees and served as an Elder. She was a Registered Nurse, throughout her career she taught LPNs, was a Labor and Delivery Nurse at Salem Hospital and worked for Doc Simpson. She was a Cleveland Browns fan and a member of the Eastern Stars.
Sherrill is survived by her daughter, Elizabeth (James) Crawford of East Palestine; a sister, Kay (Joe) Waldron of Leesburg, Fla.; five grandchildren, James Crawford, Jessica Franklin, Taylor Neff, Alex Baker and John Crawford; and eight great-grandchildren, Ryan, Luke, June, Bailey, Grace, Caroline, Peyton and Leo.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Wendy Jones Baker, a brother, James Frank Wisser, and sister-in-law Claudia Wisser.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2024, from 5 to 7 p.m. and on Friday, Sept. 27, 2024 from 10 to 11 a.m., all at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine.
Services will be held on Friday, Sept. 27, 2024, at 11 a.m. at the Van Dyke-Swaney-Rettig Funeral Home, East Palestine, with Pastor Phillip Bartholomew officiating.
Burial will take place at Glenview Cemetery, East Palestine.
