Hops for Tots will benefit Funland Children’s Playground

COLUMBIANA — This year, the existing Funland Children’s Playground in Firestone Park is the beneficiary of proceeds raise by the Columbiana Craft Beerfest, which they have nicknamed Hops for Tots.

The event, which is held annually to benefit Firestone Park is being held from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at 101 TownCenter Drive within the Firestone Farms complex.

For $30 in advance or $40 at the door, a ticket holder will receive 10 tasting tickets (5 oz. pours), a 13 oz. master crafter tasting glass as well as get to enjoy live music with Leanne Binder and Len D’Angelo and the Dead Foxes plus food trucks and vendors.

According to publist Mary Ann Green, the 10 participating breweries include Aeonian Brewing, Biker Brewhouse, Birdfish Brewing Co., Blue Monkey Brewing, BrewLounge Beer Company, Good Lady Brewhouse, Modern Methods Brewing Company, Not Creature Wild Ales and Lagers, Paladin Brewing, R&L Lipton – Platform and the 1547 Project.

Participating food vendors include Auntie Anne’s Pretzels, Homestead Kitchen and Cocktails, Mary’s Pizza, Smoke Worz and the Toasted Traveler.

Columbiana Project Playground is a local 501c3 nonprofit committed to replacing the existing Funland Children’s Playground, which has fallen into some disrepair .

Barking Squirrel Farms, Coyote Run Ranch, Our Farm Skin Care and Farm, the Local Artisans Loft, East Iron Soda Works and Due Sorrell Food Imports also will be on hand sharing their wares.

“We are hoping to raise around $25,000 this year for the playground,” Zentner explained, adding that the 2021 event benefited the city’s dog park and the Stadium Project got the 2022 and 2023 proceeds. They also were within Harvey S. Firestone Recreational Park just like the playground.

“The goal always has been for the Columbiana Craft Beerfest proceeds to benefit something in the park,” Green said.
