WELLSVILLE -- The Buckeye Water District (BWC) has submitted an application for a Cyber Security Grant in the amount of $20,000 according to District Manager Al DeAngelis in his report to the BWC Board of Trustees during Thursday's meeting.
DeAngelis also noted that the distribution crew has repaired one leak and completed two taps.
BWC utilized USG Solutions for the inspection of the 750,000-gallon farm tank. The inspection has been completed and the district is waiting for the details to be finalized and sent from USG Solutions.
Trustees were informed by USG Solutions that they have a tank asset management program which has been used by other water authorities. They have also worked in conjunction with Ohio Environmental Protection Agency (OEPA) for their asset management requirement.
A change has been made to the district's website for customers paying online. A disclaimer stating that customers must acknowledge the rules and regulations concerning their bills. After acknowledging the disclaimer customers can then pay bills.
The correlators for leak detection -- which will help the district pinpoint leaks in the system --have been received. These will also allow the district to detect leaks on their own rather than paying for an outside firm to find them, according to DeAngelis. The correlators were subsidized through a grant from the OEPA with the district paying a portion of the cost.
According to DeAngelis the district and Dallis Dawson and Associates are still waiting for a price on the relocation of power poles to the service the administration building. He said that he received a rough estimate but is waiting for further details.

Board members approved the minutes from the previous meeting and the special meeting. Also, approved were the treasurer's, operations and district manager's reports.
Board members held an executive session to discuss employee compensation.
They also approved sending two employees to Indepth VIP training on Oct. 22 and raising the daily compensation rate to $50 a day per person.
The Buckeye Water District Board of Trustees meets the third Thursday of each month at 9 a.m., in council chambers at Wellsville Village Hall, 1200 Main St. The next regular meeting is scheduled for October 17.
