Mahoning County real estate taxes deadline is Aug. 2

YOUNGSTOWN –Mahoning County property owners should be receiving their second-half real estate tax bills.

The deadline to pay without penalty is Friday, Aug. 2. Property owners who do not receive statements by Friday, July 26, should check the website or call the Mahoning County Treasurer’s Office at 330-740-2460 to confirm payment amounts or request copies of bills, according to county treasurer Dan Yemma explained. Bills for all taxpayers are able to be viewed online for those with online capability. Final bills for taxpayers who are on the Tax Installment Program (T.I.P.) have been mailed as well.

Paying Taxes Online: Refer to http://mahoningcountyoh.gov as well as the back of one’s bill for more information on electronic payments.

Yemma said options for paying electronically have been greatly expanded and now include, in addition to credit card and electronic check, ability to pay via Google pay, Apple pay, PayPal and Venmo and can be done online, by text and by phone. Taxpayers have the ability to schedule and set up automatic payments. There are transaction fees charged by a third-party vendor. Taxpayers who wish to receive their bill electronically via email can do so. Refer to the treasurer’s website and the back of one’s bill for details on electronic billing and payment resolutions.

The treasurer’s office is open for normal business from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Payments are encouraged to be made electronically for faster processing. Mail payments should be sent to the Treasurer’s Office Attn: Daniel R. Yemma at 120 Market St., Youngstown, OH 44503. All payments postmarked on or before the Aug. 2 deadline will be processed as on time payments. The office is open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday for tax payers who wish to pay in person.
