Arlen Lockhart
The Wellsville Care and Share Community Club has chosen Arlen Lockhart as the Care and Share Community Club Student of the Month for February 2024. Arlen is the son of Wendy and Roger Lockhart of Wellsville.
Arlen is recognized as an example of leadership and helpfulness. During high school, Arlen has been a member of the Honor Roll and the National Honor Society. He has competed for Wellsville as a member of the esports, robotics and bowling teams. Outside of school Arlen has volunteered his time to his community by participating in clean-up projects on Tenth Street hill and the Marina and is employed by Subway.
Arlen is also a student in the Interactive Multimedia program at the Columbiana County Career and Technical Center.
After high school, Arlen intends to train to become a firefighter.
Lindsey Bregar
SALINEVILLE -- Southern Local High School senior Lindsey Bregar has been selected as the Salineville Kiwanis Student of the Month for May.
Bregar, the daughter of Kirk Bregar of Salineville, capped off an excellent high school career with a 4.17 GPA and a 10th-place ranking in her class while also making honor roll during all four years.
Her many accomplishments include being a member of the National Honor Society, participating in College Credit Plus since her sophomore year, serving on yearbook for one year, student council and FFA for four years, drama club, marching band and concert band for five years and pep band for six years, as well as cheerleading for and track for four years each.
Bregar's cheerleading career consists of being a four-year letterman, the co-captain for football season and captain for basketball, as well as receiving the Indian Award twice and a Tomahawk Award. Her track career includes being a captain for three years and receiving both the Indian and Tomahawk awards. She has also been a part of the shuttle hurdle relay record holders the past three years and recently set a new record in 2024.
Meanwhile, she has been an active member of FFA and served as reporter during both her junior and senior year. Bregar has received Greenhand Degree, Star Greenhand Degree, Chapter Degree, third-year member degree, Reporter's Book gold rating during the state convention for the past two years as well as State Degree, Star Chapter Farmer, the Marcus K. Walter Scholarship and the FFA Alumni Scholarship.
She has engaged in countless hours of community service, volunteering at the Kiwanis rose sale and breakfasts, alumni fair food stand at the Columbiana County Fair, vacation Bible school and the school's Red Cross blood drive as well as attending Camp Fitch as a counselor. Additionally, she has worked at Ezio's Italian Restaurant in Salem for nearly two years.
Upon graduation, she plans to attend the University of Mount Union to major in neuroscience and minor in criminal justice and will also continue cheerleading.
