FAIRFIELD TOWNSHIP -- A motorcyclist was flown from a two-vehicle crash in Fairfield Township Thursday morning.
Troopers from the Ohio State Highway Patrol Lisbon Post are investigating the crash in which Derrick Smith, 51, New Waterford, was traveling east on Crestview Road near Cherry Street at 8:03 a.m. and struck a Chevrolet Equinox driven west by Kristina Field, 39, Columbiana, who was making a left turn into a private driveway.
Smith, who was not wearing a helmet, was ejected in the crash and was flown by STAT MedEvac to Mercy Health in Youngstown with critical injuries. Field, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was evaluated by Columbiana EMS and released at the scene.
Assisting agencies on scene were Columbiana City Fire and EMS and Beaver Township Fire and EMS.
The high patrol is reminding drivers to watch for motorcyles as the summer months approach.
