Lions Club collecting used eyeglasses

CALCUTTA – The Calcutta Lions Club collects used eyeglasses here in Calcutta as part of the global mission of Lions Clubs International to combat blindness. In just about any home, people can find an old pair of eyeglasses that are no longer being used. That same pair of eyeglasses can change another person’s life.

Throughout the year, clubs in Ohio collect used eyeglasses and deliver them to sorting sites like VOSH Ohio in Pandora, Ohio. The eyeglasses are cleaned, sorted by size and prescription strength, and then packaged for use on mission trips around the world.

Calcutta Lions Club member Tim Coalmer recently refurbished the three recycling bins in Calcutta and they are located at Giant Eagle, Lee Eye Care Center and Dr. Detwiler’s office. People are encouraged to drop off their used eyeglasses to one of the bins.

Starting at $2.99/week.
